We strongly advocate just picking a few strong false shuffles and then mastering them.

But how do you know which false shuffle to pick?

We decided to buy every false shuffle we were interested in, and study ALL of them, so that we could decide which false shuffles to focus on.

Nearly two hundred dollars later, we had a list of about 40 false shuffles.

We spent nearly 2 months working through this list. In the end, we just chose a few of our favorites for the YouTube video we made.

Part 2. 4 False Shuffles You Can Start Learning Instantly (25+ minutes)

After discussing the 40+ shuffles, we decided to teach 4 of our favorites.

The Erdnase Blind Shuffle

A simple but wonderfully deceptive false shuffle. In our summary of this shuffle, we describe it as the ‘perfect fidget move’ because you can pick up the deck and do this false shuffle in just a few seconds.

Charlie Miller’s Strip Out Shuffle

A classic strip out false shuffle that isn’t easy, but looks just like a real shuffle and cut.

We found this one hard to understand just from the book, and we would have loved a tutorial like this when we were learning it.

This tutorial doesn’t teach Ben Earl’s handling, but it does teach the classic ‘Charlie Miller’ method.

The Lift Shuffle

This isn’t a full deck false shuffle but it is a very useful way to control either a ‘top stock’ while genuinely shuffling the rest of the deck.

It uses just one sleight that you’ll be able to use moments after learning.

The GW Hunter false shuffle

Many people consider this to be THE go-to false overhand shuffle. Whatever the case, it’s certainly a classic that you should learn. It’s also so simple that you can learn it in 2 minutes.
